Meatballs in Marinara

Meatballs in Marinara

Easy dinner, that tastes delicious. Amazing paired with spaghetti or on a sub for a meaty sandwich.

I put this dinner together so fast, and just used what most people keep around in their pantry. I do list out to use a pesto, but feel free to use whatever Italian herbs you have. I’d recommend fresh basil, and parsley. If you try out this recipe, please leave a comment on my socials or down below. Thanks!

Difficulty

Easy

Ingredients

For the meatballs

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 2/3 Cup panko bread crumbs
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup parmigiano (or Parmesan)
  • 1 tbsp pesto (or fresh herbs)
  • 1/2 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

For the marinara

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1 jar of marinara (45 oz or 66 oz)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine all ingredients for your meatballs. Throughly mix.
  2. Roll out 15-16 meatballs, and set aside.
  3. Dice up onion and garlic.
  4. In a large saute pan, cook down your onion and garlic in some olive oil. Once cooked down, add in meatballs.
  5. Add in marinara and bring to a simmer.
  6. Simmer (covered) for 30 min, or until meatball is cooked through.
  7. Enjoy! Best with spaghetti or on a sub!

Tips & Notes

If you’re using parmigiano, be careful on how much you salt the meatballs. Parmigiano is a salty cheese, I would say it’s saltier than parmesan. Taste it if you haven’t used it before!

While the meatballs are simmering, clean the kitchen. I love meals where I have to wait for the meat to cook. Now I can clean, and have my dinner knowing that I have basically nothing left to do after.
