French Toast
The perfect morning breakfast. A decadent brioche slice with fresh whipped cream. Perfectly paired with strawberries for a delicious bite!

This French Toast is honestly one of the best breakfast items I have ever made—thick slices of brioche soaking up a rich custard. What actually made this over the top was the freshly whipped cream. It beats any whipped cream you could find at the store, and it is ready in 5 minutes. Hope you love this one!

Ingredients
Custard
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Optional – lemon zest if you don’t use lemon brioche
Whipped Cream
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Everything Else
- 1 loaf of brioche bread (I use lemon brioche)
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh strawberries
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until fully combined. I use an immersion blender for full incorporation.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Add about ½ tbsp of butter and let it melt.
- Dip a slice of bread into the custard, letting it soak for 20–30 seconds per side. Lift up and let excess drippings fall off.
- Place soaked bread onto the skillet. Cook until golden on each side.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- In a small bowl combine cream, sugar, and vanilla for your whipped cream.
- Whip until it peaks.
- Serve french toast with strawberries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup.
- Enjoy!
Tips & Notes
Type of bread makes a difference. Regular white bread will come out soggy and grossly spongey (my opinion). Brioche makes this perfect. Even sourdough would be good. Both types have to have thick slices!
Low and slow is the move. Medium-low heat gives the custard time to cook all the way through without burning the outside. If your pan is too hot it’ll burn and you’ll miss out on the perfect slice!
